Abstract

This presentation aims to enhance awareness and knowledge about effective sun safety practices. It will differentiate between sun-protective behaviors, such as using sunscreen and wearing protective clothing, and sun-avoidant behaviors, like seeking shade and limiting sun exposure. Participants will compare SPF protection levels across various clothing types and fabrics, gaining insight into how apparel can contribute to sun safety. The session will also address the health risks associated with sun exposure, emphasizing that skin cancer is not limited to older adults but also affects adolescents and young adults. Finally, attendees will learn practical skills, including how to estimate the appropriate amount of sunscreen needed for adequate skin coverage.
