Abstract

Rising rates of mental illness and worsening provider shortages increase the risk of unmet psychiatric needs. Long wait times for specialty prescriber care adds to this problem. Patient prioritization is an important facet of effective health care provision. In Clackamas County, rates of mental health conditions are higher than state averages. Transferring stable patients from specialty prescribers to primary care may improve access to psychiatric providers. Our project's aim is to promote discourse and consideration of transfer criteria from specialty psychiatric prescribers to primary care providers (PCPs) for comprehensive care.
