Eugene Gettelman, M.D., talks about his education at the University of Oregon Medical School, including the social life there, about his internship and residency in Chicago, his service in the South Pacific during World War II, and his career in private practice in the San Fernando Valley in California. He gives an eyewitness account of the first reported use of sulfanilamide in the U.S. at Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago.
