Abstract

Depression is a common mood disorder with 8.3% of Americans above the age of 15 reporting a major depressive episode in 2021. This quality improvement (QI) project took place at a primary care clinic serving a rural community in Oregon where roughly a quarter of adults reported having depression in 2017. This QI project sought to improve staff perceptions of accuracy and efficiency of the Clinic’s depression screening process, achieve greater staff satisfaction with provider notification of screening results, and increase depression screening rates.
