Public health nursing often looked upon as a fairly recent development in the field of nursing. In reality it extends back to the very beginning of nursing. Public health nursing often times was not known as such, of course, and its practice was very different. The public health nurse of to today would scarcely recognize her sister of years ago were they to suddenly come together.
